Norwich Music Sub Lessons!
ENTRANCE/WELCOME:
1. As children enter the room, have students come in and sit in assigned spots,
ask them to pass forward ipads into "parking lot" holders at the front of the row.
2. Please introduce yourself. The students love to hear what music you have made in life!
3. Use the printed seating chart and help students find their assigned music spots.
4. If you see a need, review the Expectations on the wall with the three stars next to the TV.
Remember, the teacher can remove behavior stars as needed, but students can earn them back once.
Extra star is available if the WHOLE class demonstrates self control.

4th and 5th grade LESSON:
ACTIVITY ONE: Assigned spots, Rhythm Clap along:
ACTIVITY TWO: Music note review lesson / games (Student code - K850358)
Play the springtime rap below to review the music lines and spaces. THEN, display each QR code (Level 1, 2, 3) and allow 3-4 minutes per game. Ring a bell to switch class to next level and then display new code.
Students need to stay in assigned seats and have about 50% or less volume.
ACTIVITY THREE: MUSICAL HULA HOOPS: RULES AND SONGS BELOW:
ACTIVITY FOUR: Ipad time, free choice of ANY music apps DOWN below.
If the class is in control and focused from seats after getting ipads out, they can sit with friends AND make music using the apps below.
3rd grade LESSON:
*Place ipads in parking lots to begin class. Pass out before activity four.
ACTIVITY ONE: Rhythm clap along with video below
ACTIVITY TWO: Sing the springtime song using the link below (click image)
Most students know main chorus, but may need some review (sing it twice) on ending verse and ending.
ACTIVITY THREE: Musical Hula Hoops (Same as above)
ACTIVITY FOUR: Ipads and Music Apps - start in assigned spots and spread around (not in the stairs area) until it is time to line up.

End of class EXIT PLANS: Leave 2-3 minutes.
What to do when Music Class is over?!
Three minute wrap up and LINE UP PROCEDURE:
Save 2-3 minutes for lining up. IF students are on ipads, ring the chime under the clock (use a pencil or your finger to ring it)
and announce for the class to line up.
Students will line up into the purple row against the wall, and need to show these four skills:
1: Feet forward 2: Eyes on the leader 3: Lips Level Zero 4: Supplies (ipads) safe in 2 hands
Spy these things and pick two children to help you:
Choose one student to ring the dismissal chime.
Choose one student to mark the stars on the chart near the desk.

SLSP LESSONS (C DAY)
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Forbidden Rhythm Directions: As a class, sit in rows and play the game clapping the rhythms after the video drum. If a student claps a 'forbidden' rhythm, the student will walk the plank to the back of the room. If a student gets out, it won't last long, and they can return at the start of the next round when a new rhythm begins.
