Norwich Music Class Archive
Music Videos from the past! Take a peek at our music making over the past few years!
During the month of December, 2015, Norwich Elementary classes K-5 chose to donate money to a great musical cause! Norwich students raised over $600.00 to share with Cornerstone Elementary School in Dexter Michigan. The preschool there needed additional funding to continue providing specialized music therapy classes.

Veteran's Day Video, Norwich Primary Classes
On Wednesday, November 11th, 2015, the 2/3 classes of Norwich Elementary came together to make a musical moment. The children sang and remembered Veterans in our community. We were fortunate to have Veterans of all ages in attendance. It was a magical experience for all in the room. We hope you can also enjoy a portion of our show from the video clip below.
Our Dances come from AROUND the WORLD!
Tinikling Dance from the Philippines:Considered one of the oldest dances from the Philippines, this dance was originated in the Visayan Islands. The dance is an imitation of the tikling bird as one of the most unique in its movements - walking around and between the tree branches and some grass stems. This bird was named "tikling" from which the Tinikling dance got its name.
Before this dance became what it is today, it went through an evolution of sorts. Many stories of the Tinikling's origin have been passed down through oral histories and folklore. |
iPad App Exploration!
As we have more usage of ipads and computers in our music room, we've had some extra fun during music enrichment classes. The video below is a sample of audio loops compiled by Ms. Montgomery's 4/5 class using Garage Band. Each team of students selected and edited loops (pre-made tracks) that they felt fit together. Next, they adjusted the volume levels to match and feature different instruments. This experiment was awesome example of how different mood can be created when given personal choices.

Click the button above to visit the lesson sources to learn about the instrument of the orchestra this month. The 2/3 classes saw many examples of orchestra instruments. We also made mathematical and scientific connections to WHY the instruments made specific sounds. Finally, we sorted how instruments fit into different families by how they are played.
